Dental Implants - My Family Dentist Garland

Dental Implants are an option for patients who have lost a tooth and are looking for an option which will allow them to regain the ability to smile with confidence again, knowing that their teeth look completely natural. Dental implants are strong and allow the patient to eat a normal diet after the procedure process has been completed. The implants which are placed into the jawbone are made from titanium, a strong and lightweight metal. In time, the bone will bond with the titanium and will provide a solid foundation for your teeth. This type of dental implant will also help to preserve jawline structure and will prevent issues with facial structure which sometimes come along with tooth loss.

Dental implants have impacted the lives of many patients by allowing them to regain confidence and comfort in their smile. These implants have changed the lives of people who have experienced tooth loss and has allowed them to eat, speak, laugh, and enjoy life again.

Consultation for Dental Implants

Before we make the decision to continue with a dental implant procedure. A full examination of your medical history is necessary in order to determine the correct course of action. We ask that our patients undergo a dental and radiographic examination in addition to obtain current information about the structure of your teeth. Dr. Heaton will consider your specific needs and will guide you to the correct course of action for your dental situation. It is important to our team that your questions are answered throughout the process of adjusting to your dental implants.

Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants formed out of titanium, and are used to act as a stable root for your artificial tooth. These implants are surgically attached to the jawbone, and small posts are then attached to the implant which will be the base of the artificial tooth. Most patients require only two surgical procedures in order to implement your dental implants. The first procedure involves placing the titanium implant into your jawbone. After this procedure, the implant beneath the surface of the gums with gradually bond with the jawbone. During this period, we generally advise that the patient wears temporary dentures and avoid hard foods to prevent any damage to your gum tissue or the implant during this period. We will use this time to create the perfect fitting bridge or denture to fit on top of the implant in alignment with your other teeth.

After this three to six month period and the implant has healed and bonded to the jawbone, the second phase of the procedure begins. Your surgeon will prepare the implant and attach a device called a healing collar. Dr. Heaton will then take an impression of your implant and begin constructing your new teeth. Replacement teeth are then fitted to attachments and connected to the implants.

Generally, this procedure takes a total of six to eight months and does not disrupt the lives of patients.  Dental implants Garland.
