Partial Dentures

Removable partial dentures are designed to meet the needs of patients who do not need to replace all of their teeth. Complete dentures are only used as a last resort in order to maintain a natural appearance and to keep a comfortable and functional mouth.

Partial Dentures - My Family Dentist Garland

Partial dentures are made of primarily of acrylic materials and sometimes contain a mix of metals to provide strength. The design of your partial denture will take into account the anatomy of your mouth along with your specific needs in order to create the best possible fit which will create a natural feeling set of teeth.

Dr. Heaton will work with you to design for partial denture so that you can chew normally and that pressure will be evenly distributed along the surface of the remaining teeth and soft tissues. Sometimes some adjustments need to be made to remaining teeth in order to let these dentures fit naturally.

Metal partial dentures are structurally superior and are generally the preferred type of denture. These types of dentures are also thinner and easier to clean than the acrylic types of partial dentures. Usually, acrylic partials are only used as temporary replacements for a permanent denture. Dr. Heaton works alongside his patients in order to determine the best type of partial denture for their specific situation.
